LAKE OCONEE REYNOLDS PLANTATION
The existing residence was in essence a house adjacent to a lake, but it hardly acknowledged the lake and provided the previous residents with little view or relationship to the water. The renovated design uses the existing footprint and roofline, but reorganizes the rooms so that the living spaces have sweeping views of the water beyond. The family room was vaulted with dormers and timber scissor trusses added to flood the living area with natural light. The kitchen opens to the family room with a large cased opening, but also the screened porch via a casement window. This window allows for a bar top seating and serving area for the porch. The new screened porch provides an additional living room giving the new occupants a front row seat to the lake’s beauty. Shiplap walls along with bright white or pastel interior paints give the home a coastal feel.
